Expertise: School Improvement * Facilitation Training * Coaching * Poverty Training
Throughout Reta’s career in education, she has been a teacher, principal in an early children center and in at-risk elementary schools, guidance counselor, and district office school improvement coordinator and curriculum coordinator. While on loan to the Illinois State of Education for three years as an Educator in Residence, she worked successfully in teams helping low-achieving schools to elevate their achievement and increase the teachers’ instructional capacity.
For years as an educational consultant for the Professional Development Alliance, she’s been passionate about the efforts she’s made in turning around and moving schools and districts from at-risk to achievement. Reta works with their teachers to improve their skills and practices and helps the schools build a stronger sense of teamwork and collaboration. She aids in building peoples’ capacity, develops strong collaborations, and assesses at-risk population and helps bridge the gaps in achievement. She has worked with NCLB, Corrective Action and Restructuring, School Choice, and Supplemental Educational Services (SES). Reta is a coach and trainer in effective facilitation and principal leadership. She also was a member of the Joliet Principals Association and the Illinois Principals Association.
Reta has her B.S. in Education from Illinois State University, M.S. in Guidance Counseling and School Psychology from Governors State University, Endorsement in Administration from Chicago State University and is certified by Ruby Payne as a Framework for Understanding Poverty trainer.
